Sea Monsters Revealed Exhibit Visited

Well, it has been some time since I have posted as I have been rather busy with 40k and Bolt Action plus my Strange Aeons opponent has been rather busy since him and his wife are expecting a baby. So, I figure I would ramble a bit about visiting the Museum of Science and Industry today to see the Sea Monsters Exhibit with my wife.

This is the first start for the exhibit and will be here until September, then it is to tour the country, not sure if it will go overseas but if you have ever seen the King Tut or Bodies (either one) exhibits then this is along the same lines. It has a variety of rooms to various themes, great lighting and some amazing exhibits that is well worth the visit.

I almost died laughing when I saw that there was  Cthulu products in the gift shop on the way out including an inflatable tentacle for your hand and another one to cover your mouth. At the register they even had Cthulu mints in a tin, I may have to buy one in the future as part of a contest prize! Still the greatest find was this!

Here it is on the tip of my finger to give you an idea o the appearance.

Now, this is it next to a 28mm figure, a coffee cup an my hand.

Yea, it was $2.99 and since MOSI is just a few miniatures from my job I can always drive over in the next few months and snag a few more from the gift store. I just wanted one for now to test out as a possible scenery item or other uses in the game (like one of the scenarios in the game with the tentacles appearing). The only issue it it is designed to fit over your finger (which may not be a bad idea to keep one on my drive into work and back every day as it would be giving a new term of giving someone the tentacle!) Some type of filler and this will be IMO a great item of scenery to build! Looking forward to this!

2012 Uncle Mike's Brushoff! Ends Nov. 30th!

Just a reminder that Uncle Mike's Worldwide is hosting their once a year contest and the closing date is quickly approaching! If you have some Strange Aeons figures from Uncle Mike's range post them up or paint them up quickly if they are sitting around unpainted! You still have a few days and a pack is just 3 figures on average!

Here is the rules straight from the website:

As always, we’ll be rewarding the three best painted packs of official Strange Aeons miniatures.  Any pack will do, but you must paint the whole pack!  And to make things a little more interesting this year, we’re adding a second category: Big Kits and Battle Scenes.  For this one, you can either paint one of our large kits (Godling, Dark Puppeteer or Crypt of Cthulhu) – OR – one Threshold pack doing battle with any one Lurker pack.  You’re free to enter into both categories as many times as you wish, but note that you may not submit the same models in both categories.
So, how about prizes?  Well, with double the categories, we’ve obviously had to double the loot, so here’s what each category will dole out:
  • 1st Place: $30 UMW Webstore certificate, plus THREE unreleased models!
  • 2nd Place: $20 UMW Webstore certificate, plus TWO unreleased models!
  • 3rd Place: $10 UMW Webstore certificate, plus ONE unreleased model!
Want to get in on this bounty?  Well then get painting, and send photos of your entry to contests@strange-aeons.ca, or post them in the Strange Aeons area at Lead Adventure Forum.  We’ll add your photo to our Gallery, where you’ll be able to view your handiwork pitted against your competition.  Need some inspiration?  Check out the BrushOff! 2010 and 2011 Galleries, where you can still view all the entries from our past competitions.
You have until 11:59PM MST (GMT -7) on November 30th to submit your masterpiece(s).  Let the BrushOff! begin!

Threshold! ROLL OUT!

Just picked up a set off Ebay for a decent price, about $3 a car with shipping...not a bad find. Now I just either need to grab a bulk deal on trucks or perhaps a few choice ones. I love the beer trucks, the flatbeds and the gas haulers the most, which seem to be popular. Figure if I can grab some at a good price I will jump on them.

An update from Reaper Kickstarter just hit last night with this image of the green for the Cthulu figure that was the last and final item to drop as a "bonus item" that you could buy for $10. I am VERY happy with this and rest of the goodness that is going to arrive in March. Which is my only complaint, but I know they have a ton of product to crank out and get into production. Personally, I am excited Bones is growing, to me this is the next and true direction that miniatures should go in....decent quality and inexpensive...

Wow! A week lost in the Crypts!

Well, not really just a variety of things going on but I figure it had been a week and a great time to throw out some teasers of things to come.....

I have a load of figures on deck to primer including the remaining birthday order from Black cat and a booster package from overseas from Paul Field to help bulk up the collection. Thanks Paul! Just a matter of the weather getting good enough for my liking to primer my figures! Cool weather has rolled in, there is still a bit too much moisture in the air as of yet but I hope in the next day that I can start priming tons of models to start painting.

Thursday after a game of Blackwater Gulch if we have time, Ryan and I will be pulling out the Strange Aeons rules to give them a whirl. I have only had two solo games as it has been hard to get people to try something new. So, I am working him out a Threshold team to try out including a new figure I finished painting the other day and just about finished basing. It should be a blast to take up the challenge as an official Lurker player.

What are the two models? Well, I will post up pics tomorrow once I finish the basing. One is the Black Cat Missing Link monster and the .45 automatic rifle with the long clip. Oh yea!

Cthulu and the Mythos ARISE!

For those that didn't pledge to the Reaper Kick Starter....shame on you!!!!

It wasn't until the bonus stuff showed and I saw the Mythos, Chronoscope and such appear that I was drawn in to the fold. Then at the very end CTHULU appeared and crashed the Kickstarter server with the Elder Sign! And just for $10 more for an 8" Cthulu and another $10 for the Mythos set...yea, made my mouth water....Bones are nice products and makes things cheaper than the metal versions....sure some of the Reaper stuff was recasts and yea, I will be trading some...but still I have tons of goodies to add to Strange Aeons and Supersystem 3 games!

Shocking Tales #3 Cover Art!

I just lost a few points of sanity but this was well worth it! The Dunwich Horror is featured on Shocking Tales #3 from Uncle Mike's Strange Aeons.

They have downloadable artwork that you can put on your desktop or blog! Enjoy!
